Four GLE Races Earn Spots on 2017 Trophy Series

 Now in its 13th year, the Trail Runner Magazine Trophy Series includes 97 races in the US and Canada   Four of Great Lakes Endurance‚Äôs races have earned spots on the 2017 Series:  Two Hearted on June 24, Waugoshance on July 8, Grand Island on July 22 and Tahqua on August 5.  Registration is open for all races and has been brisk, especially for the 50K events at Two Hearted and Grand Island.  If you complete any of GLE races in the Trophy Series you are automatically entered.  Prizes are awarded for the most races and the most miles raced.  Age group awards are also given.

The fabled nordic ski venue in the glaciated hills north of Iola provides the setting for this one of a kind nighttime snowshoe race. The event starts at 6:00 pm and features a completely lighted 5K loop on the nordic ski trails. Even in the low snow year of 2013, the trails were still blanketed with snow.

Course Descriptions

All events start near the ski chalet at the Iola Winter Sports Club. The 5K loop features a combination of the blue and green marked trails on the nordic ski system. The course is comprised of rolling terrain in wide groomed and relatively fast terrain. The course is lighted, but some snowshoers prefer using a headlamp for a boost of light in some areas.

A donation is made to Iola Winter Sports Club to support children's cross country ski programs

Refund & Transfer Policy

No refunds. This means that once you registered your entry fee will not be refunded for any reason by Great Lakes Endurance. Active.com offers entry fee insurance.
No participant transfers. This means you may not transfer your entry to anyone else.
No year to year transfers. This means you cannot transfer your entry to any future events.
Event transfers. You may transfer from the 10K to the 5K until February 3, 2017. Please email the race director ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) to request an event change. There are no refunds for entry fee differences between events.
Please note: Personal checks will no longer be accepted by Great Lakes Endurance. We do accept Visa & MasterCard.

Registration & Packet Pick Up

Early registration is encouraged to help with planning purposes. However, participants may still register Saturday afternoon from 5:00 - 5:45 p.m. at the Iola Winter Sports Club.  Pre-registered participants pick up their race materials at this time.

Awards

Overall male and female winners in the 10 Km will receive Artist/Farmer Gift Package. Winners of the 5 Km will receive a GLE Gear Gift Package. Equal Exchange Organic Chocolate bars will be awarded to the top three in each age group for each race.
